Roger Nelson, 82 of Beresford, formerly of Davis, passed away on June 7, 2022 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 17, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Viborg with visitation starting at 1:00 PM. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home.
Roger Wayne Nelson was born on February 17, 1940 to Irvie and Vivian Nelson, who lived 2 miles west of Davis, S.D. He was the 2nd of three boys, joining older brother Dennis and later followed by Warren. He graduated from Viborg High School in 1958.
On November 11, 1962, he was united in marriage to Pamela Lowman and lived south of Davis. To this union they had 2 daughters, Deborah and Peggy. He was a 6-year member of the South Dakota Air National Guard, where he was a part of the Flight Line Personnel as a mechanic.
Roger was a life long farmer. He was young when he started driving tractor to help out. He loved animals, having many hogs and some cattle. Most of all, he enjoyed farming the land.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of almost 60 years Pam; daughters Deborah (Scott) Pritchett of Tea and Peggy (Gerald) Dahlin of Beresford; grandchildren Jessica (Brandon) Folk, Brad Pritchett, Megan Dahlin and Madeline Dahlin; great-grandsons Liam Anderson and Palmer Folk; brother Warren Nelson of Viborg, sisters-in-law Linda Lowman and Rhonda Dangel; nieces, nephews and many friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents Irvie and Vivian Nelson; brother Dennis Nelson; and sisters-in-law Mary Ann Nelson and Grace Nelson.
