Roger Lee Nielson

Roger Lee Nielson, 79 of Manti, Utah passed away March 13, 2025 in Centerfield, Utah. Born January 20, 1946 in Gunnison to Glen Soren and Elizabeth Braithwaite Nielsen. He lived most of his life in Manti.
In 1965 he was inducted into the United States Marine Corps. He served his country in Vietnam where he was a Communications Wireman. He was honorably discharged in 1967.
He returned to Manti and married Dixie Lyons November 1967. Together they had 2 children, a girl, Bobbie Jo and a son, Ben Lee. They later divorced. He then moved to Childress, Texas where he worked for the Austin Exploration Company for 2 years. He returned to Manti and worked at Pacific Trails Sportsware, Fairview Coal Mine and a construction company where he helped build the Manti Elementary.
He married Kelly Duncan on February 28, 1981 in Manti. They had one son, Josh Lee. They later divorced. He moved to Salt Lake City where he worked at AMCE Electric, he worked there until it closed operations. He then moved back to Manti. He was the grandfather to 12 grandchildren.
Roger is survived by his sons, Ben and Josh; sisters, Dixie Nielsen Witt, Jerrie Baldwin, Coleen (Darwin) Ogden. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Beth; his daughter, Bobbie Jo Nielson Summers and granddaugter, Tricia Nielson.
The family would like to thank Gunnison Hospital, Mission at Community Rehab Center, Gunnison Home Health and Hospice and Dr. Sean Olsen for their loving care to Roger.
