Centerfield, Utah - Shelle Loomis Oliver passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 10, 2025, at her home in Gunnison, Utah. She is now at peace after waging a valiant battle against brain cancer.

Shelle was born July 20, 1957, in Choteau, Montana, to James H. and Mary Haynes Loomis. She grew up in Simms, Montana, on a beautiful dairy farm near the banks of the Sun River, where she loved swimming in the river and playing in the Cottonwood trees with her friends and her sister Lyndy. She especially loved picking chokecherries for Lyndy.

After graduating from Simms High School, Shelle attended Brigham Young University, where she earned a Bachelor of Education. She was married to Jeffrey Lee Oliver for 47 years, following their wedding on April 15, 1978, in the Manti Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shelle taught at Gunnison Valley Elementary School for 34 years–30 years in Kindergarten. With two sessions a day, she influenced over 1,600 children and became lifelong friends with her in-class colleagues.

Shelle loved the outdoors and spent much time with her family backpacking, biking, and hiking. Shelle hiked the Gunnison G-Hill every day, giving her the self-proclaimed title, “Queen of the G-Hill.” She loved the many cats that were a part of the family over the years. Her motto was “Every life should have nine cats”.

Shelle was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and an elect spirit of our Heavenly Father. Throughout her life, she has loved, honored, and served her Savior Jesus Christ. She wanted to be remembered as one of the ninety and nine lambs that stayed in the fold and followed their Shepherd (Matthew 18:12). Shelle has served in the Young Women’s Organization, as well as a chorister, teacher and counselor in the Primary Organization. Shelle also was a Relief Society President, Sunday School teacher and served with her husband, Jeff, in the Spanish Branch. In all these callings, she gave her best effort in loving and caring for the people she served. She was highly creative and used those talents in her service. For example, she and other teachers worked with Primary children to create a video depicting scenes from the life of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Lee Oliver; her daughter, Mary Lee Oliver and son-in-law, Dan McQuarrie (Mac) Scott; her son, Jeffrey Michael Oliver and daughter-in-law, Heather Rae Oliver; and her grandson, August Haynes Oliver. She is also survived by her sisters, Joan (Joey) Loomis Luster, Kay Loomis Baker, Lyndy Loomis Marxer, as well as many nieces and nephews. Oh, how she loves you all!

She was preceded in death by her parents, James H. and Mary Haynes Loomis, and her brothers, James Larry Loomis and Dan Leroy Loomis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Gunnison Utah Stake Center, 80 W. Center Street, beginning with a memorial reception from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held directly after at the Manti City Cemetery.

Livestreaming of Shelle's services will be available under her obituary 15 minutes prior to service.
