On July 16, 2023, Roger Peterson passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer.
Roger was born on June 30, 1949 in Braham, MN to Curtis & Arlene (Norby) Peterson. He was the oldest of two siblings.
He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brunswick, MN.
Roger grew up on his family farm near Lewis Lake, MN and attended Lewis Lake Country School for grades 1-6. He graduated from Ogilvie High School in 1967 and was the valedictorian of his graduating class. After high school, he attended the University of Minnesota – graduating in 1971 with a degree in accounting.
For the next 48 years, Roger worked as a Financial and Credit Manager for General Mills, Upper Lakes Foods and Faribault Foods. During his time, he earned The Certified Credit Executive Distinction from the National Association of Credit Management. He was a member of numerous credit groups and served positions of leadership.
Roger married Darlene Horn in 1984. To this union, a son Ryan, was born.
Roger's interests included fishing, pheasant hunting and deer hunting. He loved spending time with his family, especially all his grandchildren. He enjoyed trips to the family farm and spending his weekends there when he could.
Roger was a member of Family of God Lutheran Church where he served for several years as Treasurer, Comptroller and a member of The Executive Committee.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Davis. He is survived by his wife Darlene; his son, Ryan (Katie); his stepson, Pat (Michelle) Horn; grandchildren, Morgan Peterson, grandson, Peterson due in September, Kyle, Kayleigh, Kayden and Kelden Horn; along with two special nieces, Coral & Chelsea.
