Roger Dale Phelps

Roger Dale Phelps, age 66, of Springfield, made his Journey to the Spirit World Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the home of a family member. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Friday, March 6, 2026, in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield, with Bro. Mike Brady officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5-8pm Thursday and again from 10-11am Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Phelps was born July 20, 1959, in Ashland, KY, to the late Robert Gene Phelps, and the late Florence Loubell Plunkett Phelps. He is a U. S. Army veteran and had worked as a Maintenance Technician at the hospital for many years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Phelps was preceded in death by a son, Todd Needham; and brothers, Jimmy Craig and Bobby Phelps.

He is survived by his children, Bonnie (Bo) Moore, Brian Phelps, Iris (Ricky) Mantlo, and Brad (Lori) Needham; 7 grandchildren, Cameron Phelps, Christopher Warren, Chloe Mantlo, Bailey (Chase) Swainson, Kaitlyn (Jacob) Carroll, Tyler Jackson and Caitlyn (Zach) Lee; 4 great grandchildren, Tyra Lee, Tori Lee, Tanner Lee, and Paisley Swainson; brothers, Ray Phelps and Terry (Janet) Phelps; special friends, Kathy Phelps and Kathrine Surerus Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Austin & Bell Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
