Roger was born on April 30, 1951, in Shreveport, LA to Llyod Ray (Spy) and Carmen Pickett and passed away on July 23, 2024.
Roger was proceeded in death by his parents, Llyod Ray (Spy) and Carmen Pickett; wife of 50 years Vickie Jacobs Pickett; brothers, Darrell Pickett, Doug Pickett, Len Pickett, and sister, Anita Lockey.
Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Brandi Jones and husband David; Jennifer Peters and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Sidney, Abby, Ava, and Cade; great grandchild, John Michael; brother, Dewayne Pickett and wife Patricia; sisters, Diane Cannon and husband Bobby, Robin Green and husband Reggie and sister-in-law, Linda Pickett; sister-in-law, Barbara Johnston and husband Daniel; brother-in-law, Larry Lockey and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Roger proudly served in the Marine Corp from 1972-1976 and fought in the Vietnam War.
Roger was known for his story telling. He was the center of attention with tales from his time growing up, serving in the Marine Corp, hunting and fishing, and stories of his family. He loved hunting, fishing, working in his garden, serving in his church and spending time with his family.
Honoring Roger as Pall bearers will be Dewayne Pickett, Dustin Pickett, Jeremy Pickett, Brandon Green, Morgan Moore and Eric Thompson.
Services will be held on Friday July 26, 2024, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta, Louisiana.
Recitation of the rosary will be at 11:30 a.m., followed by visitation from 12:00 p.m. until commencement of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. presided over by Father Karl Daigle. Interment will be at Thomas Wren Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to St. George Catholic Church.
