Ronald Pickett - Born June 25, 1941 in Columbus, Indiana* Died February 17, 2026 at his home in The Villages FL* Survived by his wife, Margaret “Peg” Pickett ( whom he married in 1985); two sisters, (Bettina Smith and Connie Garringer ); sons Robin Pickett and wife Kimberly, Richee Pickett and Paxton Pickett; daughter Jamie Krebs and husband Michael.; nine grandchildren (Dylan, Payton, Preston, Parker, Josh, Palmer, Pierce, Peyton and Kayden) and three great grandchildren (Charleigh, Oz, Rowan)* He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Violet (Davis) Pickett; two brothers, Thomas Pickett and William Pickett; two nephews, Tod Pickett and Trent Pickett; and a Granddaughter, Sophie Pickett.* He grew up in Anderson, Indiana, and graduated 1960 from Anderson high school where he played baseball on the 1960 undefeated Anderson Indian NCC champion baseball team.* Lifelong baseball enthusiast, Chicago Cubs fan and found his greatest joy on the diamond* He channeled his passion for coaching to help grow Shadyside little league in the 1970s as league president and he was instrumental in acquiring the previous Shadyside men’s softball diamond, turning it into a second field for the league and bringing girls softball to Shadyside.* He was a dedicated coach, who believed in the importance of teamwork and athletics. He played competitive softball for many years, mostly at Shadyside and the UAW fields.* He retired from Magnaquench/Delco Remy and Pepsi-Cola•Upon retiring from Magnaquench, he and his wife Peg moved to Florida., where they successfully started and owned two Visiting Angel in-home senior care businesses in 2006 that are thriving to this day. Prior to that, he worked as a travel agent, was Director of a prominent softball complex in Kissimmee Florida, as well as a brief time as a golf course ranger.
