Roger Dale Pipkins, aged 80, of Park Hill, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Northeastern Health System in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Mr. Pipkins was born on January 25, 1945, in Quitman, Mississippi, to the late Robert Dan and Ellen Mae Browning Pipkins. He graduated from Kilmichael High School in Kilmichael, Mississippi, then served six years in the United States Army. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and completed the necessary requirements to practice as a Physician's Assistant. Mr. Pipkins dedicated many years to practicing in hospitals across Mississippi before retiring.
Mr. Pipkins had a profound commitment to suicide awareness and prevention for veterans. After relocating to New Mexico, with his great friend and fellow veteran, John McGill, he established a traveling business named "Straight Scoop," providing counseling and suicide awareness support to veterans throughout the state.
Additionally, Mr. Pipkins founded another organization in Albuquerque, New Mexico, called "Forward Flag." This establishment was devoted to suicide prevention and veteran care, offering services of counseling, art classes, acupuncture, a gym, and professional service dog training. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, family time, and all his dog's cuddles.
Mr. Pipkins is survived by his wife of over 20 years, Samantha Leigh Pipkins of Park Hill, Oklahoma; three children, John Pipkins of Washington, D.C., Katherine (Logan) Griffin of Maryville, Tennessee, and Kyle (Rebecca) Pipkins, also of Maryville, Tennessee; two stepchildren, David (Carrie) White and Thomas Adam (Nickolas) Goddard; four grandchildren, Hayden, Adelaide, Nya, and Tommy; his brother, Raymond Pipkins; sister, Maedyne Jenkins; brother-in-law, Tom Burson; and sister-in-law, Anne Current.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William "Bill" Pipkins.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah.
