Roger K. Sohr Jr., age 89 of Gillett, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Roger was born on June 27, 1935 to the late Roger Sr. and Ethel (Pederson) Sohr. He graduated from Waukesha High School in 1953 and UW Madison in 1957. Roger served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. He then began his career as a civil engineer and was able to travel extensively overseas for many years. His work took him to Southern Vietnam, West Pakistan, Dominic Republic, Columbia, Ecuador, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Sumatra. Roger also enjoyed vacations to Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Roger particularly enjoyed sunny get togethers with aunts, uncles, and cousins at the cottage on Paya Lake that his parents built the year they were married.
Roger is survived by niece, Sara (Darren) Sohr Preston; nephew, Peter Sohr; great nieces and nephews, Erin, Emory, Lucy and Peter; many cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Sohr; sister, Gayle Sohr; infant sister, Janet.
A private family service will be held in the spring. Roger was interred at Wanderer's Rest Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.
The family would like to thank the staffs of HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls and St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay for the care and compassion offered to Roger during his time of need.
