Mr. Roger Dale Standifer June 16, 1950 – June 5, 2025
Roger Dale Standifer age 74 was born June 16, 1950 in Tazewell, TN. and passed away on June 5, 2025 at his home with his family by his side. Roger was saved at Bethel Baptist Church many years ago and was a faithful member of the Chittum Chapel Baptist Church. Roger married Kathy Johnson on July 2, 1976, he was a good husband, good provider and a good man. He never ask "Why me?" with his illness PMA (Progressive Muscular Atrophy). Roger took great pride in work, especially his yard. Roger had been talking about going home for a long time since his illness.
Roger is survived by his wife of almost 49 years Kathy Johnson Standifer, best friend Willie his dog. Sister Judy and her husband Steve Lewis, brother-n-law Jimmy Johnson and Janice. Nieces Mandy and Dakota Holt, Angela Harrison and husband Tom, Haley Lee and husband Wesley and Renee Lax. Nephews Wesley Minton and wife Emily, Mike McNeil, Paul Eldridge, Joe Liford, Jack Brantley and several other nieces and nephews.
Roger is preceded death by his parents Jack and Norma Jean Standifer, sisters Betsy Liford and Mary Brantley. Mother-n-law Bonnie Lanham and mamaw Bessie Massengill and niece Katie Johnson. Roger is also preceded in death by his beloved pets Peanut and Rufus.
The family will receive friends Friday June 6, 2025 from 4pm till 6pm in the Claiborne~Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services to follow at 6pm with the Rev. Keith Sandefur, Rev Jake Miracle, and Bro. Mike Seabolt officiating, Music will be provided by Barbara Hatfield. The graveside services will follow in the Chittum Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Wesley Minton, Wesley Lee, Dakota Holt, Thomas Harrison, Jimmy Johnson and Mike Wilmoth. Honorary Pallbearers: Steven Longworth Loy Day, Gerald Burleson, Steve Lewis, Virgil Longworth, Arby Fultz, Stanely Massengill, Bill Seals, Franklin Ramsey and Preachers and Deacons of the Chittum Chapel Baptist Church.
