Roger Thomas Obituary

He was born on November 11, 1956, in Elwood to Odell and Thelma (Lankford) Thomas and was a lifetime Alexandria resident. Roger was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School-Class of 1975. He worked for the City of Alexandria at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Roger retired on April 30, 2019, after 43 years of employment. He was a former member of the Alexandia Eagles and the Moose Lodge. He loved to ride his Harley and was a member of the former Jazzy Brothers Motorcycle Club. Roger loved to hunt and fish. His greatest pleasure in life however, was the opportunities he got to be a papaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-Jacob Lillard, brother-Ron Thomas, niece-Morgan Thomas. In-laws-Bob and Geraldine Yeagy, 2 Brothers-in-law-Rex Yeagy and Ronnie Yeagy
Services honoring Roger's life and legacy will take place at 4 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024, in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria with Frank Ward officiating. Cremation will follow with private inurnment taking place in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria, The Thomas family will receive friends after 2 pm in the funeral home prior to the service.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alexandria Tiger Reading Program, c/o Alexandria – Monroe Elementary School, 308 West 11th Street, Alexandria, IN 46001.

I used to live in orestes and we had a big back yard. Him and all the guys would come and play football. Seems like yesterday. Roger will be missed by many. Prayers to the family during this so sad time.
