Diane R. "Murray" Elbert

ALEXANDRIA, IN – Diane R. (Murray) Elbert, 71, entered peace and rest on Monday, January 19, 2026, after being taken suddenly ill at Ascension St. Vincent Carmel Hospital.

She was born on July 28, 1954, in Elwood to Jack and Pauline (Bohannon) Murray and has lived in the Elwood/Alexandria area all her lifetime. Diane was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School-Class of 1972. She also received her certification as a Qualified Medication Aid (QMA) where she has worked in various health care facilities in Madison County. More recently, she has worked at the Anderson Meijer Store on Scatterfield Road for the past 9 years. The Elwood VFW #5782 post was a special place for Diane as she had fond memories of going there with her father. Diane was a lover of animals, especially her 4-legged companions Meows, Barks and Precious. Her home in rural Alexandria was Diane's place of peace and comfort as she thoroughly enjoyed country living. She enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and adult coloring books. Diane was a giving, caring person who was always thoughtful of others. Her beautiful smile and warm spirit will be fondly cherished in our memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Diane's care and simple cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Owens Funeral Home of Alexandria. A public Celebration of Life in honor and memory of Diane will be announced in the future by the family.
