Roger Violette, age 85, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2023.
Beloved father of Robert Violette, Bradley Hardison, Paul Violette (Susan), Lillian Dione "Dedee" Hardison, and Aisha Violette; loving grandfather of Kyle Henley, Donavan Hardison, Kortni Rubino, Dante Violette, Aiden Salmon, Lucas Violette, and Ella Salmon; dearest great-grandfather of several great-grandsons and great-granddaughters; dear brother of Claire Gorman. He is also survived by his former spouse, Joyce Violette and sister-in-law Edith Holley. In addition, he was the much-loved uncle to numerous Hofflers, Holleys and Mckinneys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernand and Margaret (nee McConnell) Violette; his former mother-in-law, Iris Hardison, and sister-in-law, Shirley Hargrove.
Roger had worked for 17 years at Whyco Chromium in Thomaston, CT. He was an avid jazz fan, frequenting the live jazz performances (often with his daughter, Aisha in tow) at the Hillside Restaurant in its heyday. We all remember him enjoying the sun at Lakewood Park and trips to Rhode Island just to hang out on the beach, wearing one of his iconic hats. Most noted among his hobbies was his ability to spoil children, making dessert for dinner, or scooping up his nieces, nephews and children for ice cream or other activities when they were young. We will miss sitting in his presence listening to jazz, sipping iced coffee (cream no sugar) and his never-ending kindness and love for his children and family.

Dear Aisha, Joyce and family: This is Aaron Marggraff sending my prayers and condolences your way. When I saw this, I immediately remembered things about Roger and then, indeed, those things were listed in the write-up...his iconic hats and enjoying the sun at Lakewood. Aisha, you were one of my best friends back at Kingsbury and I always remember your father being part of everything. I pray for peace and comfort for all and I hope your memories will help to lift you up during this time. Sincerely, Aaron Marggraff
