Roger Wille Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors - Utica on Oct. 14, 2025.
Roger J. Wille, age 63, passed away on October 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and compassion. Born on June 25, 1962, Roger lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his community, his students, and the many animals and people he helped along the way.
Roger's family meant everything to him. He is survived by his mother, Judith A. (Michael) Baker (née Dresden); siblings Larry (Laura) Wille, Diane Wille Fancher, and Scott (Lisa) Wille; nieces and nephews Erik (Jennifer) Wille, Dana (Karl) Resch, Devon Fancher, and Calvin Fancher; and six grandnieces and one grandnephew who will carry on his legacy of strength and compassion.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald J. Wille, and his beloved son, James Carlisle-Winston-Wille, whose memory Roger cherished every day.
Roger was a man of extraordinary strength, both in spirit and in body. A 5th-degree black belt Master in Taekwondo, he dedicated his life to discipline, teaching, and empowering others through martial arts. At one point he owned two Taekwondo schools where he mentored countless students, instilling confidence, respect, and resilience.
His commitment to protecting others extended far beyond martial arts. As the Detroit chapter lead of the Guardian Angels, Roger was a fierce advocate for neighborhood safety, patrolling streets, supporting youth, and offering a steady hand in uncertain times.
Roger found great joy in simply being outdoors. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast that loved exploring open roads with a sense of freedom and purpose. When he wasn't out riding, he found peace by the water with a fishing rod in hand.
An animal lover to his core, Roger was a dedicated rescuer of all creatures great and small. He bred and adored Cane Corso dogs and had three of his own. On top of that, he shared his home with two Chow Chows, two cats, and a ball python. His animals were his world, and they will all miss him dearly. Roger also had a love for collecting plants. He even took in the unwanted or dying plants of others and nursed them back to life.
Roger lived with quiet courage, fierce loyalty, and a heart wide open to those in need. He will be remembered as a protector, mentor, animal lover, and family man. His presence will be missed, but his impact will not be forgotten.
A visitation for Roger will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 9:30a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd. (3blks E. of Van Dyke) in Utica. Luncheon immediately following at Trinity Lutheran Church, 45160 Van Dyke Ave (NE corner of Hall Rd. and Van Dyke) in Utica.
