Roger Clayton Williams of Haskell, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on August 24, 2025 at the age of 74. A devoted father, grandfather, and friend, Roger’s life was marked by hard work, quiet strength, and a deep love for his family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home. The family will have a private gathering to celebrate his life.
While living in Sweetwater, Texas, Roger built a long and respected career as a plumber before retiring. Known for his steady hands and generous spirit, he was always willing to lend his skills to help neighbors, friends, and family. Outside of work, Roger found joy in the simple things-spending time with his loved ones and casting a line on the water, where fishing brought him peace and reflection. He was also a member of the Sweetwater Rifle & Pistol Club.
Roger is survived by his son, Larry Allen Williams and wife Becky of Vernon, Texas; daughter, Jessica Rae DeVos and husband Dustin of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Alexa, Adam, Clayton, Edison, Grace, and Alex; two brothers, Kenneth Williams and wife Susan, and Clifford Williams and wife Dana; three sisters, Linda Todd and husband Larry, Patricia Browning and husband Chuck, and Melanie Wilkerson and husband Randy, and numerous nieces and nephews
He was a Christian and his legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will continue to live on through them. He was preceded in death by his parents, James (Willie) and Sammie Joyce Williams, and brother, James Williams.
Roger’s family and friends will remember him as a man of quiet integrity, devotion to family, and an unwavering appreciation for life’s blessings.
