Roger Lee Wright, 69, of Delray, West Virginia passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Sentara RMH Medical Center, in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Wright was born November 7, 1956, in Harrisonburg, VA and was the son of the late Robert Newton Wright, Jr. and Anna Williams Wright.
Roger attended Montevideo High School and later obtained his GED. He was a member of the McGaheysville United Methodist Church and later joined Shiloh United Methodist Church in Highview, West Virginia. He was an avid Washington Redskin fan and loved gardening and family get togethers, especially Christmas at 10:00 a.m. sharp at his parents' home.
He retired from Walmart after working in Maintenance. Co-workers often commented about Roger's contagious smile.
Roger was united in marriage in May of 2014, to Donna Jean (Fary) Wright who survives. He is also survived by a brother, Gary Wright and wife, Silvana of Penn Laird; sisters, Judy Kite and husband, Dennis of Sugar Grove, WV and Nancy Wright-Smith and husband, Reese of Penn Laird. His grandchildren Isiah and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren Levi, Cassius and Brystol who lovingly called him Grandpa Roger, he is also survived by his mother-in-law, Helen Fary.
A celebration of life and burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville will be held at a later date.
Gifts may be made to the Wright family to offset unexpected funeral expenses. Those wishing to donate may make their check payable to Kyger Funeral Home with Roger Wright noted in the memo line and mailed to: Nancy Wright-Smith, 6430 E. Donnagail Drive, Penn Laird, VA 22846.
