Nelson Wayne Ringgold

Nelson Wayne Ringgold, 81, of Mt. Solon, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Ringgold was born December 17, 1943, in Weyers Cave, Virginia and was the son of the late David Edgar and Edna May Eutsler Ringgold. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Winston and Linden Ringgold, and a sister, Doris Sheffer.
Nelson worked in construction as a Sheet Metal Supervisor for 62 years with Don Largent Roofing. He loved watching NASCAR Racing, especially Bill Elliot, Dale Jarrett, and Joey Logano, he also loved Harley Davidson. Nelson especially loved the outdoors, he would come home from work and go right back, just to be outside. His favorite time was spent with his family and dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Stella Smith Ringgold; sons, Jerry Ringgold and Timothy Ringgold; brother, Stanley Ringgold of Grottoes; brother-in-law, Sammy Smith; sister-in-law, Linda Falls; grandchildren, Samantha Ringgold and Brian Ringgold, as well as great-grandchildren, Adam and Rylan Wimer, and Maverick Cote.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2025, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
In keeping with Mr. Ringgold's wishes, there will be no service and interment will be private.
