Rogerlynne Buchanon Briddon, age 71, died Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Born on September 27, 1954, in Scottsville, Kentucky, she was the youngest daughter of the late Roger Buchanon and Effie Marie Hobdy Buchanon. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Geri Smith and Georgianna Fisher.

Rogerlynne was deeply devoted to her community, her church, and her family. She was a member of the Scottsville–Allen County Chamber of Commerce and an avid bridge player. She contributed her time and talents as a member of the Allen County–Scottsville Arts Council and the Scottsville Train Depot Historic Preservation Committee. She proudly served as a four-term City Councilwoman for the City of Scottsville, Kentucky, where she helped secure funding for Scottsville's first city bus system, expanding transportation access for the community. She also served on the City of Scottsville Code Enforcement Committee, the Allen County Health Department Board, and the Board of The Core of Scottsville.

She remained closely connected to her alma mater through the Scottsville High School Alumni Association, serving as President and Secretary. After graduating from Scottsville High School, she attended Western Kentucky University, where she earned her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Rank I degrees. Rogerlynne dedicated much of her professional life to education, teaching English and Speech at Bullitt Central High School in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and later serving as an English teacher and guidance counselor at Glasgow High School in Glasgow, Kentucky.

A faithful member of Scottsville First United Methodist Church, Rogerlynne served on numerous boards and committees and was a proud member of the Alto section of the SFUMC Chancel Choir. She was also a member of Indian Hills Country Club in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Rogerlynne and Don, along with her brother John and sister-in-law Elizabeth, joyfully hosted the Briddon/Buchanon Kentucky Derby Party for more than 30 consecutive years. The beloved annual gathering became a cherished community tradition, bringing friends together while raising thousands of dollars in support of causes close to Rogerlynne’s heart, including the Allen County Relay for Life and the Allen County–Scottsville Arts Council.

She is survived by her husband, Don Briddon; her brother, John Buchanon (Elizabeth); her brother-in-law, Dr. David Smith; and her nieces and nephews: Shannon Weaver (Mindy), Daniel Fisher (Susanna), Vera Fisher Gosse (Ryan), Anna Fisher Drummond, Jackson Buchanon (Cate), and Caroline Buchanon; along with great-nieces and nephews, great great-nieces and nephews, and numerous Hobdy cousins.
