Roland Troy Taylor passed away on July 28, 2025 in Fargo, North Dakota. He was born on December 5, 1967 in Danville, Indiana to Judy M. Gregory and Roland Ray Taylor. Troy spent a lot of time pursuing higher education. He graduated from Cascade High School in 1986, Ball State University in 1991 with his Bachelors of Science, and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1996 with a Masters of Psychology. Troy's thesis was titled "An Analysis of the Volunteer Programs Provided by Illinois State Public Universities and the Impact of the Public Act 86-869." During his time at university, Troy worked to pay for his education. At one point he had one full-time job and two part-time jobs in addition to his studies. Troy worked for L.S. Ayers in their executive program and for Macy's for a short time. He went to work for Belk after that as store manager in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Kerrville, Texas, Cullman, Alabama, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Troy loved to cook and bake and would often bring in his creations to share with his employees.

Troy leaves behind his parents Judy M. Gregory (Norman) and Roland R. Taylor (Shirley); sister Toni Waterman (David); niece and nephew Christopher Waterman (Karci) and Whitney Mellene (James); great nieces and nephew Kenzi, Payton, and Brady.

Troy was cremated. His ashes will be laid to rest at a later date in Amo Cemetery. West Funeral Home of West Fargo, North Dakota and Bousley Funeral Home of Coatesville, Indiana were entrusted with Troy's care.
