Rolande Schober Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 8, 2026.
Rolande Michele Schober, age 74, formerly of Houston, Texas, passed away in Millsboro, Delaware on December 31st, 2025 at Cadia Renaissance. The family is grateful to the dedicated staff at Cadia for their care and support during the final years of Rolande's life.

Rolande was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 11, 1951 to the late Capt. Gordon M. Richards, Sr. and Michele Mathieu Richards. She grew up in Cinnaminson, New Jersey and attended Holy Cross High School. She graduated from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) and began her teaching career in Lancaster, PA at Lampeter Strasburg School District. She was a proud educator for over 30 years- teaching health and physical education to students from kindergarten to 12th grade and coaching varsity sports, retiring as a P.E. teacher at L.F. Smith Elementary School in Pasadena, TX.

Rolande had a fierce spirit and was passionate about everything she did. She was very proud of her French heritage from her mother and spoke French fluently, teaching French songs to children whenever possible. She enjoyed traveling and loved to garden, often found outside "playing with her plants". Her green thumb seemed to make anything grow. She was a competitive swimmer and passed on her love of swimming and sports to her children. Her signature whistle could always be heard from the stands at any sporting event cheering on her kids and their teams.

She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne Fyock (Drew) of Lewes, DE and son, Russell Schober of Pittsburgh, PA; Sister, Daniele Peterson (Richard) of Friendswood, TX; Brothers, Rodney Richards of Chadds Ford, PA and Gordon Richards, Jr. of Texas. She was also the proud grandmother of Mason, Marley, and Lincoln Fyock and a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.

Rolande was very fond of her roots on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where her father was born and raised in Onnancock and later her parents bought a cottage at nearby Silver Beach. She always said her happiest times were spent on the Eastern Shore, so the family will be having a private celebration of life there in the near future.
