ROLANDO D. PINTO, age 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 19, 2024. Devoted husband to Debbie Donegan-Pinto (Freeman). Loving father to Anthony Pinto (Elizabeth Brown), Andrew Pinto (Courtney Smith), Roland Pinto (Linda Franco-Pinto), Patricia Pinto, and Sandra Pinto. Beloved grandfather to Mia, Tyler, Andrea, Valentine, Patricio, Doris, Fabian, Carlos, Melissa, and Kayleigh. Cherished great grandfather to Sophia, Antonia and Augustine. Rolando was predeceased by his parents in Chile, the late Pedro Pinto and Maria Duran.
Rolando Pinto was born in Santiago, Chile into difficult circumstances. His grandparents raised him during a time of financial hardship and violent government dictatorship. With poor educational opportunities, he began to learn his family's flower business, as a child. Before joining the Chilean military at 18, he was introduced to the racehorse industry by his grandmother, as a place to stay occupied as a young teenager. He started from the bottom, tending to the stalls and grooming the horses. In quick time he would find his way into the saddle. In the riders seat is where he found comfort and freedom. He soon began to race thoroughbreds, and would go on to lead a long career of racing and riding. His career would take him around South America and ultimately to the United States.
He called the USA home. He was forced to retire early due to occupational disabilities. He was a loving father and grandfather who was best with children and animals. Rolando was loving, compassionate and caring. He enjoyed gardening, running, playing soccer, swimming and fishing. He was a role model of maintaining a clean and organized home. He was a master of dominos and loved to play checkers. He was known for his smile, fashion and sense of humor. He was a great dancer. Above all, he loved his family and children unconditionally. Rolando will be missed but not forgotten. May he rest in peace in Heaven.
The family cordially invites you to a memorial celebration of his life on November 16th, 2024 from 1:00-5:00 pm at "Casa de Pinto" (15035 London Road, Philadelphia PA 19116).
