Rolf C. Hamrick

Rolf C. Hamrick, age 73, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026 at the Cleveland VA Heroes Harbor Hospice after prolonged illness, surrounded by family.
He served his country in both the Army and Army Reserves for decades. He was a dedicated and popular postal carrier in the city of Cleveland, even delivering mail to the Cleveland Indians and the East 4th Street bars, gaining many friends along the way. After retirement, Rolf thoroughly enjoyed being a softball and baseball umpire and volleyball official. He also was an avid bicyclist and rode many miles with his granddaughters and friends. Rolf was a devout Christian man. He celebrated and studied at many churches, including OLMC in Wickliffe, Willoughby Bible Church, and St. John's Cathedral in Cleveland. He loved being an active parishioner and generous with his time and resources. He also participated and gave unselfishly to many organizations including the Knights of Columbus, American Red Cross, the Special Olympics, and many others. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Gertrude (nee Jung) and Jennings Hamrick, his biological mother, Lovenia "Pete" Wiles, sisters Mary Lanier and Marsha Chapman, and his son-in-law Christopher Sulyok. He is survived by his three children, Melissa Sulyok, Philip Hamrick (Becca), and Steven Hamrick (Ashley); the mother of his children, Margaret Hamrick; his three beloved granddaughters Emma, Abigail, and Natalie Sulyok; his sisters, Teri (James) Moran, Bobi (George) Mitchell, Toni (Daniel) Baden, and Nancy (Ken) Tieber, as well as many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, family, and friends that loved him dearly. Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, February 26, 2026, and 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Monreal Srnick Funerals & Cremations, 35400 Curtis Blvd. Eastlake, OH 44095. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish 29850 Euclid Ave. Wickliffe, Ohio 44092. Burial will be at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
