Rolf C. Kohm

Rolf C. Kohm, 92 of Cranston died peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center on August 18, 2023. He was a lifelong resident of Cranston, RI. He was a talented and hard-working jewelry toolmaker for 47 years retiring from the former Kunzmann Chain company in Warwick, RI. Rolf was a Veteran honorably discharged as a US Army Sergeant who served his country proudly in the Korean War from 1952-1954.
Rolf was born in Providence to Christian F. Kohm and Louise E. (Zorn) Kohm. Rolf was predeceased by his beloved wife, Waltraud F. (Braun) Kohm of 65 years. He is survived by his sister Ruth Chiaramonte of Clinton CT. Rolf's cherished family includes his sons Christian Kohm and wife Janet of Old Saybrook, CT; Karl Kohm and wife Joanne of Westerly, RI; and daughter Ann and husband Edward Collins of North Smithfield, RI. He was the father of the late Annette Kohm. He was a loving grandfather to Katharine Kohm and partner Lindsay Votto of Cranston, Steven and wife Alyssa Kohm of North Kingstown, Alexis and husband Will Colton of Lancaster, MA, Mark and wife Erin Collins of Dallas, Texas, Amanda and wife Bailey Collins of Denver Colorado, Emma and husband Derek DiStefano of Myrtle Beach, SC and Audra Kohm of Rocky Hill, CT. Rolf was the proud great-grandfather of 5 including Julius and Patricia Colton of MA; Finnegan and Artemis Collins of TX. and Sydney Kohm of RI.
Rolf was a proud and lifetime resident of Cranston and lived at his home on Richland Road his entire life. He leaves behind a group of devoted, loving, and supportive friends and neighbors. He graduated from Cranston High School in 1949. He was also an active member and lifetime communicant at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Providence. He was a committee member and Boy Scout leader for Cub Scout Pack 4 and Boy Scout Troop 12 at Stadium School. He was a lifetime member of the IAM International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers and the American Legion and the Korean War Veterans Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, trout fishing, playing cards, bowling, skiing, camping and road trips throughout the Continental US and Canada. Rolf was a man of great kindness and helped anyone who was in need. He will be greatly missed.
His funeral Service will be held Wednesday 8/23/2023 at 11:00 am in The Butterfield Chapel 500 Pontiac Avenue Cranston. Visiting hours will precede the service from 9:00-11:00am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery Johnston. In lieu of flowers donations to the Rhode Island Veterans Home Community Living Center 480 Metacom Avenue Bristol, RI 02809 would be appreciated.
