Ron Babcock Obituary

BABCOCK, Ron "Ronnie" – of Clio, age 59, died peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. Funeral service will be held at 4PM Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 12PM until the time of service at 4PM, and until 8PM following the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Ron was born February 2, 1966, in Flint, to the late Karen Babcock. He graduated from Clio High School and was the proud owner of Ronnie's Auto Specialists in Clio for many years. On September 30, 2000, Ronnie married his high school sweetheart, Shelly Lane, and together they shared 25 years of marriage - 42 years in total. Ronnie's zest for life was contagious and he was constantly seeking out a good thrill. From speed boating, snowmobiling, race cars, and rollercoasters, he never stayed on the ground too long before finding his next adrenaline rush. While he enjoyed those heart-pounding experiences, it was his compassion for others that defined him, and he devoted countless hours to serving those in the Clio and Montrose communities. Ron had a servant's heart and was a good judge of character. He found solace in helping the elderly and he never said no to someone trying their best to get by. Nothing, however, rivaled Ron's love for his family and friends. Ronnie was an incredible man and a staple in his surrounding communities. His legacy will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew him.
Ron is forever remembered and loved by: Wife, Shelly Babcock; Children: Kyle Babcock and Shelby Babcock; Bonus Grandson, Laken; Siblings: Sandy Landes and Lisa Heintz; Nieces and Nephews: Dierk Heintz, Dominik Heintz, Megan Hartman, Brooke Rose, and Courtney Raleigh; Close Uncles: Walt Babcock, Ted Babcock, Robert Babcock, John Belott, and Ed Merrill; Beloved Aunts: Sharon Belott and Mary Merrill; Special Cousins: Johnnie Belott and Michael Seaman; Mother-in-law, Sharon Monroe; Father-in-law, Jerry (Gail) Lane; Brother-in-law, Jerry Lane; Sister-in-law, Terri (Dan) Hatfield; Good Friends: Dave DeLong and Tim Lyman; Many beloved extended family members, business buddies, and wonderful friends. Ron was preceded in death by: Mother, Karen; Grandparents, Walter and Eva Babcock; Special Cousin, Eddie Richard; Favorite Cat, Axl; Father-in-law, Ray Monroe; Beloved Friends: Wes Eldred, Bryan Bowman.

Earlier today

Ron and Shellie are our neighbors in Mackinaw City. He always had a smile on his face. Both Ron and Shellie oh and of course Doodles would visit my mother-in-law and visit with her. It always made her day. Ron will be greatly missed

Yesterday

To Ron's family, our hearts go out to you all during this time. Been praying for all of you.

Ron, I didn't know you for long, but met you through your sweetheart Shellie. Each time I saw you, you were so kind and made me laugh. You were a master of your craft; your shop crew fixed two of our wrecked vehicles and sent them back to us perfect. That is something to be proud of. You will be missed by the community.
