CARTER, Evert – of Montrose, formerly of Corryton, Tennessee, age 89, died Friday, July 11, 2025, at Hurley Medical Center. Honoring his wishes, there will be no services at this time. Burial will take place in Fairview Baptist Cemetery in Corryton, Tennessee.
Evert was born December 14, 1935, in Corryton, Tennessee, to the late Fred and Katie (Karnes) Carter. He graduated from Gibbs High School in Tennessee and honorably served in the United States Navy. Evert shared 16 years of marriage with Laveda Carter. Laveda preceded him in death. On December 23, 1983, Evert married Carmen McDermaid, and together they shared 25 years of marriage. Carmen preceded him in death in 2008. He most recently worked at Austin's Paint and Floor Company but was known to be a jack of all trades who could do just about anything. Evert was a hardworking man who enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and reading a good book. He was an incredible man who will be dearly missed.
Evert is forever remembered by: Beloved Daughter, Lisa (Anthony) Love; Stepdaughter, Paula (Andy) May; Grandsons: Brett (Melody) May and Jared May; Great Grandsons: Trevor and Colton May; Niece and Nephew: Barb Dees and Gary Carter; Good Friends: Bonnie and Steve Matzke. Evert was preceded in death by: Wife, Carmen Carter; Parents, Fred and Katie; Brothers: Lynn Carter, Dale Carter, Fredrick Carter, and Ralph Carter; Many wonderful friends.
