Ronald James Casner, 80, of Guntown, Mississippi, passed away February 14, 2024 at Parkway Health and Rehabilitation Center in Memphis after a brief illness. He was born April 4, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana to James Leo and Mary Marguerite Browning Casner. After graduating from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, he served in the US Navy as a jet mechanic in San Diego. He was a member of Teamsters Local #135 and retired from USF Holland in Indianapolis where he met the love of his life, Paula Jo Erhardt Casner.
Together they enjoyed RV life traveling all over the continent in their motor home and snow birding at their home in Bradenton, Florida. Ron also enjoyed boating, fishing, playing cards, dining out, relaxing with family and friends, and his furry little buddy, Charlie. He was a faithful member of Saltillo Methodist Church.
In eternal life, Ron joins his parents; a sister, Dianne Dea Casner Gibson; and a brother, Larry L. Casner.
He is survived by his bride of 43 years, Paula; children, Brian (Dawn) Casner of Indianapolis, Ronald V. Casner of Florida, Teresa Casner Lake; grandchildren, Dylan Casner, Kaylin Casner, Crystal McMahan, Natasha Hernandez, and Brady Casner; a special nephew, Michael (Lisa) Erhardt of Germantown, Tennessee; special cousins, Ken, Vonda, Cate, Claire, and Bo Burroughs of Tupelo; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Saltillo Methodist Church, 737 Old Highway 45, Saltillo, Mississippi, on Saturday March 2, 2024 at 3 p.m. with Minister Tim Green officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Casner, Dylan Casner, Michael Erhardt, Logan Erhardt, Ken Burroughs, and Bo Burroughs.
Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels in care of Methodist Senior Services, P.O. Box 1567, Tupelo MS 38802 or the donor's choice.
