Ronald Edward Hemingway passed away on Sunday January 5, 2025, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Joan Hemingway, nee Farris; devoted father of Heather (Robert) Hemingway Harvey and Josh (Britt) Hemingway; cherished grandfather of Z. Benjamin Harvey, Lorelei Hemingway Harvey, Tori Hemingway, Ryan Congemo, and Corey Congemo; treasured brother of Bob Hemingway; and dear friend to many.
Ron was born, bringing in the Spring season, in Keokuk, Iowa to parents the late Ralph and the late Francis, nee Keith, Hemingway. Throughout his long life, Ron believed in doing the right thing, no matter the cost. His dedication to kindness and morality was reflected in his pride and accomplishment in his Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts of America.
Ron found a career as an operating engineer, and was a member of local 513 operating engineers for over 50 years, where he made many friendships and shared a variety of stories. Outside of work, Ron enjoyed hobbies such as photography, beekeeping, making ice, and driving dune buggies. In his quieter moments, he could likely be found lost in a book.
