Shirley M. Ederle, nee Steffen, passed in peace on March 5, 2026, at the age of 95.
Shirley was born October 23, 1930, the sixth of eight children born to Henry and Anna Steffen in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend to many.
Shirley is survived by her son James (Laura) Ederle, daughter-in-law Kimberly Ederle; grandchildren Jessica (Jordan) Hartman, Alexander Ederle, Adam Ederle, Michael (Mary) Ederle; great grandchildren Scarlett Ederle, Ayden and Daniel Hartman, Nathaniel and Noah Ederle. She was preceded in death by her husband William C. Ederle Sr. and son William (Bud) Ederle Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Alzheimer's Association or American Heart Association in Shirley's honor.
A visitation for Shirley's family and friends to gather and share memories will be held on Monday March 16, 2026, at Bethesda Evangelical Church, 85 Lemay Garden Drive St. Louis, MO 63125, from 9:00 a.m. until her 10:00 a.m. funeral service. Following funeral, cemetery service and subsequent interment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, alongside Shirley's husband the late William.
