Ron Smith

Ronald "Ron" Dee Smith Jr. passed from this life on November 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of energy and love. Born on December 10, 1965, Ron lived an active and vibrant life filled with both intellectual and physical pursuits that brought him joy throughout the years.
As a young man, Ron excelled in athletics, especially football and wrestling during his high school years. His passion for sports never faded; he found great pleasure in golf and tennis as an adult, and he rarely missed an Oklahoma City Thunder game or an OU football Saturday. On sunny days, Ron could sometimes be found riding his motorcycle, savoring the open air, or practicing his impressive marksmanship at the range. In adulthood, he also took up fencing and went on to win numerous medals in the competitions he competed in.
At the center of Ron's world was his family. He cherished time spent playing chess with his son, finding as much enjoyment in thoughtful defeats as in hard-earned victories. His love for his family was always felt in his steady presence.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Devin McGhee; daughters Ava Smith and her mother, Christine Smith, and Natalie Fritch; and his son, Alex Smith. He is also survived by his brothers Victor Smith and wife Ellen, Kelly Elrick and wife Karen, and Scott Smith and wife Clare; his sister Julee Fluker and husband Jefferson; and sister-in-law Meghan McGhee. Ron leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever miss his presence.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Dee Smith Sr. and Betty Jo Smith, and his grandmother, Dolly Doss.
Ron lived fully, loved deeply, and will be remembered always.
