In Loving Memory of Evelyn Marie (Lucius) Dokter
Evelyn Marie Lucius was born on July 12, 1940, in Horton, Kansas, to Teresa (McNeil) and Paul Lucius. She grew up surrounded by love, later joined by her sisters Betty Ann and Pauline.
Evelyn graduated from Atchison County Community High School in Effingham, Kansas, in 1958, and went on to complete business school in Kansas City the following year.
Evelyn passed away peacefully in Oklahoma City on October 31, 2025, surrounded by family.
While working for Southwestern Bell Telephone System in Topeka, Evelyn met a young airman at the Charlie Hall Dance Hall. That serendipitous meeting led to a beautiful partnership-Evelyn and LuVern Dokter were married on June 9, 1962, at St. Ann's Church in Effingham. Together, they built a life filled with devotion and joy, welcoming two daughters: Elizabeth Ann (Beth Ann) and Amy Lynn. Evelyn's career as a professional realtor spanned decades and cities-Los Angeles, Denver, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and Oklahoma City. She had a gift for helping people find a home, and her warmth made every space feel welcoming.
Evelyn also loved to cook and entertain, filling her home with laughter, delicious meals, and cherished memories. She bowled, played cards, and traveled with delight. One of her proudest moments was watching her grandson Devin graduate from the University of Oklahoma.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Betty Ann, her daughter Elizabeth, her parents-in-law Kenneth and Judith Dokter, and her brother-in-law James Dokter.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, LuVern Dokter; her daughter Amy (Daniel C III) Miles; her grandson Devin Miles; her sister Pauline (Kevin) Johnson; her brother-in-law Eldon (Karen Bettger) Dokter; her sister-in-law Kari (Tom) Beckenhauer; nieces and nephews Tisha Giglio, Shawn Peto, Jon Dokter, Rebecca Grelson; along with many cousins, and dear friends.
A rosary will be held at Lynlee Mae Chapel (507 E Main St, Moore, OK 73160) on Thursday, Nov 6 at 11 AM.
Visitation with family will follow from 12 PM – 2 PM. The Rite of Committal (internment) will take place at the IOOF Cemetery (1913 N Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071) at 2:30 PM.
