Ron Twist Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ivie Funeral Home - Hayesville on Feb. 20, 2026.
Ron Twist, age 83 of Hayesville, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 10, 1942, to the late Edward and Catherine Shiffler Twist. His family moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when he was a teenager. Ron started a family at a young age and worked hard throughout his life. He worked alongside his father at Ted Twist Truckstop towing and repairing vehicles. He moved to Hayesville in 1982 with his wife, Linda. There, he began clearing land which they later developed as their homestead. Ron was a devoted family man and cherished every moment with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Linda Twist, and a brother, Ted Twist III.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Lee Matheson and husband, Bobby of Hayesville; a son, Ronald J. Twist II and wife, Nicole of Coral Springs, Florida; a sister, Darlene Kelly of Okeechobee, Florida; three grandchildren, Shannon Twist, Jordan Twist, and Amber Taylor and husband, Blake; three great-grandchildren, Brayden and Gracely Taylor, and Jordan Twist II; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held for both Ron and Linda Twist at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Ron Twist to a charity of your choice benefitting children in need.
