Ronald Twyman Allen

Ronald Twyman Allen, 89, of Owensboro, KY, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025. Born July 2, 1936, in Lebanon, Kentucky, to Esther Marshall Sapp Allen and Joseph Twyman Allen. Ron was the youngest of eight children. He grew up surrounded by the beauty of rural Kentucky, riding horses and developing the grit, curiosity, and warmth that would mark his life.

At 18, Ron was invited to join the Kentucky State Police in Lebanon, where he served until enlisting in the U.S. Army. While stationed in Germany, he became proficient in the German language and was soon recruited as a translator/driver for a commanding officer. While overseas, Ron embraced new adventures-including learning to snow ski in the Alps-experiences that would forever enrich his life story.

Upon returning home, Ron attended Morehead State University, where he met the love of his life, Faye Lynn "Faygie" Clay Allen. The two were married for 55 wonderful years, raising their sons, Chris and Tim, in a home they built together in Utica, KY. Ron instilled in his boys the most important life lessons-loyalty, resilience, a strong work ethic, and a zest for living-teaching them everything from survival skills to the sheer joy of water skiing, riding motorcycles and horses.

Ron's professional life flourished in banking, culminating in his role as Executive Vice President of National City Bank. Known for his sharp mind and genuine care for people, he encouraged and advised countless business owners over the decades, leaving a legacy of trust, mentorship, and friendship. He was a member of Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church and served in many organizations, including the Kiwanis Club and Habitat for Humanity.

A true renaissance man, Ron's talents extended far beyond the boardroom. He was an artist, storyteller, and craftsman. He wrote and illustrated a children's book to share treasured stories from his own childhood with his beloved granddaughters-Merrie Katherine, Julianna, and Elizabeth Anne-later extending the same love to Lilah and Isaac. Ron created intricate models of buildings from his and Faygie's hometown, painted for friends and family, and always found ways to turn his creativity into lasting gifts. His grandchildren will forever remember his walking sticks for family hikes, his joyful swing-pushing, and his love of dancing.

Ron never met a stranger. He had a witty and encouraging word for everyone, an ever-present smile, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

He is survived by his sons, Chris (Jean) Allen and Tim (Kara) Allen; five grandchildren, Merrie Katherine Allen, Julianna Allen, Elizabeth Anne Allen, Lilah Stanley, and Isaac Stanley; and several beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday and from 9:00am until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
