Ronald Edward Ayers

Ronald Edward Ayers, 79, passed away on January 6, 2023, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Ronald was born November 4, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Cora and John Ayers.
Ron attended Catholic schools from elementary to high school then enlisted in the Marine Corps after graduating. It was during his service as a Marine that he met Jo Ann, a fellow Marine. Since Ron was an enlisted corporal and Jo Ann was an officer, they would have to keep their romance a secret driving over 50 miles away from the Marine base to spend time getting to know each other and then eventually fell in love. It was after their military service they were married and lived in Chicago where Ron started his career in the insurance business. Soon they welcomed their son John Joseph Ayers into the world. After moving several times, including a stint in Mundelein, Illinois, Ron and Jo Ann made their home in Scottsdale, Arizona. Ron continued his career in the insurance business where he held positions in claims disputes, insurance fraud detection and management.
Ron loved golfing, hitting the gym and socializing with his many friends at his regular local establishments. He would share his knowledge and stories of history and current events with anyone who would listen. He had a sharp mind; his smile was kind and he was always dressed to a tee.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Ayers, his brothers Jack Ayers and David Ayers and his sister, Darlene Ayers Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his mother Cora Ayers, his father John Ayers and their son John Joseph Ayers.
A memorial will be held on January 18, 2023, at 2 PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona located at 23029 N Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
