Ronald Gordon Barrier

Ronald "Ron" Gordon Barrier, 74, of Newnan, GA passed away Sunday, October 26th,2025 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born February 13th,1951 in Waterloo, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Barrier, and mother, Mavis Pfender.
Though he was born in Alabama, Ron's family relocated to Indiana where he spent a majority of his childhood. After graduating high school, Ron began coursework at DeVry Chicago before being drafted in the U.S. Army in 1970. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army in 1972, Ron began his career at Wheelabrator where he would meet his future wife, Debbie. Ron and Debbie were married in 1976. They had two children, Jon and Jody, and relocated to Georgia in 1987 when Wheelabrator opened a plant in Newnan. Engineer, Manager of Research and Development, and Supervisor of Demo are among the positions he held at Wheelabrator before his retirement in 2017. Notably, Ron and team members were granted 3 United States Patents during his career. When not working, Ron enjoyed golfing, watching Football and Nascar, and spending time with his family.
A private celebration of life will be held at his residence at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Research Institute in his memory.

Survivors include wife, Deborah Barrier of Newnan; son, Jon Barrier of Newnan; daughter, Jody (Kyle) Smith of Newnan; grandchildren, Ryleigh Smith and Micah Smith; sister, Brenda Huyvaert of Granger, IN; brother, Jamie Barrier of Buchanan, MI.
