Obituary published on Legacy.com by Compassionate Cremation Services of New Hampshire on Dec. 9, 2025.
It is with deep love and great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald "Ron" Geoffrey Bedlow, who died peacefully on December 4th at the age of 85. Surrounded by those who loved him, he left this world with the same steadiness and quiet strength that defined his life.
Born on September 24, 1940, in London England, Ron grew up with a sharp mind and an exceptional ability to recall detailed facts. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Engineering from The University of Sheffield and went on to work for Roots Motor Company, where he began his long and proud career as a Mechanical Engineer. At a young age, Ron immigrated to Venezuela while working with Roots Motors. There, he met his wife, Sonia, and lived there for more than 40 years raising their family and establishing deep roots in the automotive industry and their community. He later moved to the United States to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren.
Ron had a remarkable memory, especially when it came to history, dates, and sport with soccer, tennis, and F1 racing being his favorites. A lifelong fan of his home soccer team, Tottenham, he never missed a game and could effortlessly recall scores, match details, results, and the backgrounds of athletes.
Ron was also an avid reader with a natural curiosity that fueled his love of learning and keeping abreast of current events. He also had a particular talent for creating detailed spreadsheets, organizing information that impressed everyone who knew him. He also enjoyed expressing his creativity through sketches of cars and planes, drawing with the same care and accuracy that defined so much of who he was. In his later years, he cherished caring for his grandchildren and driving them to their many activities. He had a well-known sweet tooth and never hesitated to choose dessert or a piece of chocolate over a regular meal. This simple delight brought him genuine joy and never failed to make those around him smile.
Ron is survived by his wife Sonia Bedlow (Dickin), his daughters Debbie Elwaw and Kathy Gibson, his son-in-laws, Johnny Elwaw and Marc Gibson, his cherished grandchildren Isabella Elwaw, Sophia Elwaw, Kyle Gibson, Alejandro Elwaw, and Alyssa Gibson and step granddaughter Kaja Gemmiti and step great-grandson, Cortln Bourgault. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward "Ted" Bedlow and Rosabel "Rose" Bedlow, and by his brother, Alan Bedlow.
He approached life with thoughtfulness and quiet humor, finding joy in simple routines and in time spent with those he loved most. Though he is no longer with us, his love, his stories, and his memory will remain in our hearts always.
To honor Ron's wishes, there will be no public funeral service. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
