Ronald Bittinger

1946 - 2025

Bryan - Ronald Lee Bittinger, 79, Bryan, Ohio, went home to heaven surrounded by his family on May 3, 2025, at Defiance Inpatient Hospice. He was born on March 3, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio to the late David and Gladys (Parsons) Bittinger. Ron was a 1965 graduate of Grand Rapids High School. On July 10, 1965, He married the love of his life, Joan Hill in Liberty Center, Ohio. Ron served for a short time in the US Army right after his marriage and after he worked for the Campbell Soup Company. He then went on to work for Libbey Ownes Ford, retiring in 1999. From 1971 until 2018, Ron and Joan made their home in Liberty Center until they moved to Bryan, Ohio.

Ron was a big Ohio State Buckeye, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Guardians fan (although to him they will always be the Indians). He also enjoyed watching girls' college softball. His all-time favorite past-time was bowling. At one point he bowled in five different leagues and many tournaments. His biggest accomplishment while bowling was the three times he bowled a perfect game. During the final year of his life, he was unable to participate, but he made sure that he would always try to go to the bowling alleys to watch his friend's bowl. He always made sure that bowling would be recorded on TV so he could watch it whenever he wanted.

Ron is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan; daughters, Rhonda Bittinger and Terri Bittinger; brother, Larry (Daisy) Bittinger; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Ramona Bittinger; and brother, Terry Bittinger.

Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. A private graveside will be held for the family at Mohler Cemetery, Memorial contributions may be made to CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice or a Humane Society of your Choice.
