Ronald L. Bumgarner, 81, of Holt, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2025. He was born January 23, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri to Russell and Geraldine Bumgarner. Ron graduated from North Kansas City High School and proudly served in the United States Army.

In 1980, he married Janice Hill Cambiano. Shortly after, they settled in Holt where Ron worked as a truck driver for Ideal Trucking. Ron loved the outdoors and found joy in hunting, fishing, boating and wintering in Florida. He rarely missed a great-grandchild’s sporting event and cherished time with family. His daily 2 p.m. swim with the guys, a cold beer and a policy of keeping his opinion to himself were some of his simple joys. He was a proud and active member of Teamsters Local 41.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Geraldine, and his brothers Eddie and Gerald Bumgarner.

Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his wife Janice Bumgarner, children Alisa Armstrong and Scott Cambiano, brother Russell Bumgarner (Christie), and sisters Becky Johnson and Joy McSparren. Of all the names Ron answered to, his favorite was “Dodd” – the one lovingly given by his seven grandchildren: Tim Smith, Melissa Hubbell (Ryan), Ashley Robb (Aaron), Vivian Crosby (Aaron), Vincent Cambiano, Vanessa Rubio (Ron) and Veanna Cambiano. He also leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren: Joslyn Woods, Riley Smith, Lexi Woods, Reese Hubbell, Ali Woods, Anyssa Woods, Colt Hubbell, Barrett George, Kia Rubio, Minor Crosby, Kazel Rubio, Amelia Crosby, Keira Robb and Benelli Robb.

A visitation and funeral service will be held on May 7 at Park Lawn. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m, both at Park Lawn Northland Chapel 1640 State Route 291, Liberty, MO. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ron’s life.
