Ronald Lee "Ron" Bussell, 83, of Carmel, IN went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, while surrounded by family and friends. He was born December 1, 1940, in Anderson, IN to Claud and Elizabeth (Alfred) Bussell. On December 10, 1988 Ron married the love of his life, Donna Ruth (Hinkle) Redding.
Ron was a 1958 graduate of Madison Heights High School. He attended Purdue University and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964, and later earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) degree from Indiana School of Law. Ron and his brother, Don, shared the Bussell and Bussell Law practice for several years; later Ron established his private practice specializing in wills, trusts, estate and general law. Ron was a veteran of the US Air Force and acquired the rank of Captain.
As a former member of the Gideons International-Carmel Camp, Ron enjoyed attending monthly meetings and distributing Bibles to the local elementary and high schools. Other memberships he held included the Carmel Golden K Kiwanis Club, and the Carmel Lions Club where he looked forward to working the annual fish fry. Ron had various interests and hobbies. He crafted several beautiful furniture pieces in his workshop: tables, a gun cabinet and music chest. He was an avid reader and enjoyed leading a home Bible Study. Ron was a man of integrity and strong faith, he always had a smile to share, and a generous heart. After its onset, the cruel disease of dementia robbed Ron of living the wonderful life he shared with Donna.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Richard "Dick" Bussell; and his sister, Suetta Johnson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Donna (Hinkle) Bussell; children, Kristin Bates, Matthew Bussell, and Darren Redding; grandson, Tyler Short; and twin brother, Donald "Don" (Ginny) Bussell; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather in Trinity Baptist Church where Ron was a member on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 6 – 8 pm. The funeral will take place in Trinity Baptist Church Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 11 am. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at 10 am Tuesday, October 15.
A Committal Service will follow at 3 pm in Burlington Cemetery with military honors.
Contributions in memory of Ron may be directed to Trinity Baptist Church, 1415 E 191st Street, Westfield, IN 46074.
Envelopes will be available at the church.
