Ronald Carroway Obituary
Ronald D. Carroway, born on September 24, 1943, in Richmond County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 7, 2025. He was 81 years old.
Ronald was known for his warm-hearted nature, embodying the spirit of someone who never met a stranger. His ability to engage with others, particularly when discussing his beloved North Carolina Tar Heels, made him a cherished presence in his community. Friends and family alike will deeply miss his kindness, humor, and the lively conversations he brought into their lives.
A proud veteran, Ronald served four years in the United States Air Force, where he upheld the values of dedication and service. After his military career, he made significant contributions to his community through his work with Harris Teeter, Big Star grocery stores, and Bennett Motor Company.
Ronald’s love for life extended into his hobbies and interests, especially spending cherished moments with family and friends. Those who knew him can attest to the joy he found in these connections.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Dianne Loftis Carroway, and his son, Scott Carroway (Melissa Jeffery). Ronald was predeceased by his father, Elmer Lewis Carroway, and his mother, Lois Pratt Orr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Carter Funeral Homes in Rockingham, North Carolina.
As we remember Ronald D. Carroway, let us honor the joy and warmth he brought into our lives, knowing that his legacy will continue through the love and stories shared by those who knew him best.
