Ronald Clements Obituary

Ronald James "Chuckhole" Clements, 67, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Ron was born June 9, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Paul and Velma Clements. He was the third of four children. Ron was educated at St. Simon Primary School and John Marshall High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduating from High School, Ron enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and attended recruit training in San Diego, California. Upon completion of his enlistment, Ron returned to Indiana and later settled in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Ron married Kathy Gordon in 1980, and two children were born from this union. Ron worked at Target, Edy's, Schenkel & Sons, and was Instructor/Director of Education for Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Apprenticeship at the Carpenters Training Center, Warsaw, Indiana from 2000 to 2020. From 2003 to 2021, he served as President of Local Carpenters Union, 232, in Fort Wayne. Ron was a fun-loving, quick-witted, highly intelligent, thoughtful, compassionate, adventurous, authentic, driven, larger-than-life individual who left a lasting memory on anyone he encountered. He was an amazing storyteller and practical jokester. A friend and mentor to many, Ron studied at many universities and was a lifelong student. His hobbies included golf, spending time with family and friends, playing cards and board games, wrestling bears, woodworking and building things, magic, playing Santa, and traveling. Ron will be an immeasurable loss to all the people who knew him.

Ron is survived by wife Kathy Clements, daughters Jennifer (Brian Mahocker), Jessica Clements, (Anthony Sgro), and granddaughter, Macie Sgro, sister Diane (John Helper), brother Rocky (Alyson), sister Barbara Nickels (Gary), and stepmother, Betty Clements. Preceding him in death were his mother Velma Clements, and father Paul (Gene) Clements.

There will be a private family service in Indianapolis. A celebration of life service will take place at Country Charm Stables, Fort Wayne, Indiana on Saturday, August 3 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Semper Fi and America's Fund: https://thefund.org in Ron's name.

I was blessed to have just met Ron when he was working with Josh of Patriot Seamless Gutters the first of June at our home. I have a small stable and he wanted to see my horse and the barn. He told me about his stable and we traded horse stories like we had known each other for years. He made such an impression on me and was one of those individuals that never met a stranger. My prayers go out to his friends and family.

Ron and I first met as six year olds as our families had moved into a new neighborhood on the ne side of Indy. With Ron at St. Simon and me at IPS 102/3 we didn't see each other often until high school where Ron wrestled and I covered it for the newspaper. There were a lot of great bus trips and weigh ins. It would be the 40th reunion where I would see him again and we had a great after reunion gathering. Ron was a great friend and I will miss him greatly. Bye old friend. Mark

All of heaven is celebrating the arrival of Ronnie (this is how I knew him. He was my nephew). Ronnie definitely was all the personalities described above and more. He was one of a kind! So many are missing him and will for years to come. We will see him again, praise the Lord, in Glory!!

At McGinley´s celebration- such a champion of the underdog and the toughest guy I have ever know.
