Michael Clements Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Yates Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Fort Pierce on Feb. 22, 2026.
Michael Allen Clements, known affectionately to friends and family as Mike, left this world with a smile on February 11, 2026, in Fort Pierce, FL, at the age of 70, after a life well-lived and full of laughter. Born on July 19, 1955, in Durham, NC, Mike carried the spirit of Southern charm mixed with a quick wit that could light up any room.

Mike was the beloved husband of Altvater W Clements, with whom he shared a love that was as deep as it was playful. He was the cherished father of Zachary D Bass and Kristen G Bass, who will miss his endless jokes and sage advice. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Stephen M Cook and Lilly G Schuetzle, who were the apples of his eye and the best audience for his granddad jokes.

A man of great humor, Mike could find the funny in the mundane and had a knack for making the complicated seem simple with his wise and intelligent insights. His laughter was infectious, and his ability to tell a story was second to none. Mike's life was like a well-crafted comedy special-full of twists, turns, and punchlines that left you wanting more.

Mike's journey through life was as colorful as his personality. From his early days in Durham, where he honed his sharp wit, to his golden years in Florida, where he became the unofficial mayor of his neighborhood, Mike never missed an opportunity to crack a joke or share his wisdom. He was the kind of guy who could fix your car with a paperclip and chewing gum, all while delivering a monologue that would make a stand-up comedian envious.

In his professional life, Mike was as intelligent as he was funny. He could solve problems with the ease of a mastermind, and his colleagues often said that a meeting without Mike was like a day without sunshine. He was the go-to guy for a laugh, a solution, or both, and his absence will be felt in boardrooms and break rooms alike.

As we say goodbye to Mike, we remember a man who lived life on his terms, always with a twinkle in his eye and a joke at the ready. He was a walking encyclopedia of one-liners, a mentor who taught through humor, and a friend who was as loyal as he was entertaining. Mike's memory will live on in the stories we share, the wisdom he imparted, and the sound of laughter he left in his wake.

To know Mike was to love him, and to laugh with him was to understand the true joy of life. He left the world a funnier and brighter place, and while the curtain has closed on his final act, the encore of his influence will play on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him. Rest in peace, Mike. Your punchlines will echo in eternity, and your legacy will continue to bring smiles to faces for generations to come.
