Ronald Earl Crane

Ronald Earl Crane, aged 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Christian Haven in Grand Haven, Michigan. He is survived by his 3 children, Lynnell (Stuart II) Vollmer, Jan (Michael) Jackman, and David (Cindy) Crane. His legacy includes 11 grandchildren: Stuart III (Carolyn) Vollmer, Dianna (John) Webb, Alyse Vollmer (Alex Smith), Barret Vollmer (Karina Winkler), Regan (Cade) Colley, Christine (Chelsea) Jackman, Ashley (Tim) Peters, Janice Crane (Will Hobson), Grace Crane (Devan VanDeventer), Natalie (Andrew) Miller, Caren Crane, and 17 great grandchildren, as well as several very special nephews and nieces.
Ron was born the youngest of 3 children to Florence Dorothy Olson and George Henry Crane on August 10, 1932 and grew up in Muskegon, Michigan. He graduated from Muskegon High School in the class of 1950 and attended Muskegon Community College. He met his future wife at the age of 17 and married the late Amber Jean Price (Pat) in Anchorage, Alaska, where he was in the military service in 1955.
He finished his service and they returned to Michigan and lived in Houghton, MI, while Ron finished his engineering degree at Michigan Tech. Their 3 children were born in the subsequent years and the family relocated to Clearwater, Florida, where he practiced Civil Engineering. They spent 25 years in Florida and relocated to Spring Lake, Michigan in 1995, where they have resided since. Pat preceded him in death in 2021.
Ron was a kind, loving, dignified man. He valued honesty above all else and held himself to high moral standards. He was a devoted husband to Pat and during her later years, her constant companion and care taker, spending every day with her at the nursing home for three and a half years until her passing. Ron was an exemplary father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved his children and enjoyed spending time with all the generations. He loved to fish with his nephew, Stanley Price. The two spent countless hours over his lifetime on the lakes pursuing the jumbos. They enjoyed many activities together over the years, especially the annual deer party in the fall, Fricano Pizza nights, and fish fries. His late nephew, Roger Davis was also an important part of his life. His family will miss his smile and easy going manner.
Ron and Pat spent many winters in Marco Island, Florida, near their daughter Jan's family. In their later years, they traveled around the United States. Ron was a veteran who loved God and his country and always flew the American flag in front of their house.
There will be a celebration of Ron's life on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at his home, 19025 Walden Drive, Spring Lake, Michigan 49456, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
