Ronald A. Duescher, 69, Algoma, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025. He was born in Algoma on January 7, 1956, to the late Henry and Violet (Breitlow) Duescher.
Ron grew up on a farm alongside his brothers, David and Larry, and sister Darlene. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Montpelier, where he also attended school through the 8th grade. He attended Kewaunee High School where he excelled in football. He was proud to share that he played tackle for the Kewaunee Indians. As a young man, he won multiple trophies racing his Ski Doo in Eagle River.
After graduating from Kewaunee High School, he started his 41-year career as a steel fitter journeyman at Bay Ship in Sturgeon Bay, where he met his future wife, Mary Haas, who was a welder. After a long 18 years, they finally (secretly) got married at the Kewaunee County Courthouse. Judge Mleziva officiated, on Friday, October 13, 2000. His mother, Violet, and dear friends, Pat and Bev Scanlan as witnesses. Ron never had children of his own but instantly came into a large family and was loved. Ron and Mary enjoyed many school events for his grandchildren and great grandchildren (Go Wolves).
Ron always had to have a garden. He spent many hours weeding, hoeing, and tending to his gardens. He took great pride in his yard and flowers. Ron and Dan painted houses together for four years, D&R Painting. After retirement, his heart attack didn't slow him down. He worked with the Ringneck Pheasant Club, raising and releasing pheasants. He loved being in the garage where he would putz around and make things or just enjoy his favorite show "CHiPs".
Ron is survived by his wife, Mary Duescher; his children, Cheryl (Lee) Felber, Rio Creek, Dan (Wendy) Haas, Algoma, and Jill (Dennis) Paul, Algoma; his grandchildren, Ryan Weidner, Debbie Haas, Courtney Kohlhagen, Matt Weidner, Sara Lautenbach, Amanda Haas, Brent Weidner, Jessie Haas, and Joshua Paul; sixteen great grandchildren with one expected in June; brothers, David (Marlice) Duescher, Kewaunee and Larry (Sharon) Duescher, Luxemburg; sister, Darlene (Jim) Kudick; nieces and nephews; and four godchildren, Doug Duescher, Corey Kudick, Sarah Vanlaanen, Sara Haas Lautenbach.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Milfred and Vicki Breher; stepson Paul Haas; and stepdaughter Debra Haas.
A visitation will take place on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 9:00 am - 10:45 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montpelier. Funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Daniel Olson officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. In honor of Ron's love for Wisconsin sports teams, we ask you to wear Packers, Badger, Brewers, or Bucks Clothing.
