Ronald Garant Obituary

Ronald George Garant, of Arlington, VA., born in Nashua New Hampshire on July 3, 1939, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on February 20, 2025.

Ron graduated from the University of New Hampshire (UNH), class of 1960. While attending UNH he married his Junior High school sweetheart Jeanne Levesque.

In 1961 they moved to the Washington, DC area where Ron worked for the Navy Department, the Department of Defense, the House Appropriations Committee, and in the Jimmy Carter White House.

Mostly and above all else, Ron Garant loved people — family, friends, colleagues and strangers. He really loved people.

Ron is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeanne; children Craig (spouse Rosie) and Jay (spouse Christine); and grandchildren LT Bradlee, Elizabeth, Rain and Keegan.

A celebration of life will be held on March 29, 2025 in the Fairlington Villages Community Center at 2 p.m.

Besides being my neighbor for many years, Ron was also a member of the Glebe Garden Club when I was. Somehow, his tomatoes were always bigger and ripe earlier than mine. He seemed to be an expert at everything he attempted. Bob and I will miss his sunny smile!
