Dexter

Ronald Edward Goulette, 93, of Dexter, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday September 19, 2025 in Augusta, Maine.

He was born November 1, 1931, in Dexter, Maine, the son of Vallair J. and Violet M. (Brown) Goulette. He was raised in Dexter, Old Orchard Beach area until age 11 and then in Garland, Maine.

He married Nancy Marie Clukey on February 11, 1956, in Dexter, Maine.

Ronald was educated in the Garland and Dexter schools. He enlisted in the US Navy on July 25, 1951, he rode a destroyer in the Korean War. He attained the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class, serving in active duty until 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1959. He loved his country and was extremely proud to have been in the Navy and for fighting in the Korean War.

He was proud to be a mechanic and acquired skills to become a Front-End Alignment specialist at Hartley's in Corinna. After his full-time work he was hired by Shop and Save in Dexter and enjoyed part-time work there until the age of 87. At this time, he cared for his wife Nancy until her passing.

Ronald was an active member of the American Legion.

Playing music was his passion, playing the harmonica, guitar, and the keyboard. In his first year of marriage he took lessons on the Chromatic harmonica, he taught his oldest daughter to play and entertained people at weddings for a few years. His son also was inspired to play the guitar, and they played together often, and he made guest appearances in his son's group, Not for Hire Band. In his spare time, he was either perfecting his musical skills or working around his house doing yard work or preparing wood to burn for the winter. Not only did he love performing music, but he loved dancing to music, especially with his wife, Nancy. He loved being with his whole family and many gatherings were filled with music, dancing, and love.

Roland is survived by his five children, Rhonda, Bruce, Debbie, Julie and Theresa; his eleven grandchildren; Erica, Amanda, Zachary Nathanael, Elizabeth, Hannah, Spencer, Guner, Jilli, Josie and John; his two great-grandchildren, Keira and Aidan; and his sister Pat.

He was predeceased by his parents, and his wife Nancy Goulette; two sisters, Marie and Charlene.
