Ronald L. "Ron" Hiltz, age 90, a lifelong resident of Naperville, IL, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, at his home. He was born on January 2, 1935, in Aurora, IL.
Beloved husband of the late Margaret J. "Peggy" Hiltz (nee Smith), who preceded him in death on May 2, 2019 and whom she married December 4, 1954, loving father of Christina (Steven) Miller of Naperville and Stef (Cathy) Hiltz of Naperville, adored grandfather of Zac Miller and Abby (Josh) Eggleston; Maggie (Matt) Friede and Ben (Rebecca) Hiltz, great-grandfather of Bentley Friede, devoted son of the late Frank and Helen Hiltz, son-in-law of the late Carl and Anna (nee Stumps) Smith, dear twin brother of Donald (the late Shirley) Hiltz and Rodney (Barb) Hiltz of Naperville, brother-in-law of the late Mary Ann (the late Jimmy) Simpson, the late Fred Smith and the late Carl (Betsy) Smith, fond cousin, uncle, great-uncle, great-great uncle and friend of many. Ron will be missed by his cat, Charlotte.
A polio survivor, Ron grew up in Naperville, attended Naper Elementary School and Naperville High School where he was co-captain of the football team. He also was a member of the swim team and a lifeguard at Centennial Beach in Naperville. In his youth, Ron worked at the Birdcage Factory and as a pin setter at Sports Bowl, both in Naperville. He was later employed as a carpenter, helping build many houses in Naperville and the surrounding area. Ron was a member of Carpenters Local 1889.
Ron was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Naperville. He enjoyed casino visits and especially enjoyed playing baccarat.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Additional Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25, 9:30-10:30 AM at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1313 N. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60563.
Funeral Services will follow Saturday, 10:30 AM at St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow at Naperville Cemetery, Naperville. A luncheon reception will follow back at the church.
