Ronald “Ronnie” Hirz, 73 of Erie, died Monday, July 17th at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie after a brief fight with Lung Cancer. He was born in Erie on March 7, 1949, the son of the late Leo and Donna Hirz.
Ronnie graduated from General McLane High School and was a member of the wrestling team. He served in the US Navy- Navy Construction Battalion, better known as the Seabees, in the Vietnam war.
Ron worked in construction most of his life, working for Renaud-Peck Builders, Presta Contractor Supply, and Town & Country Builders. In his retirement, he worked at the Greater Erie Auto Auction driving cars and The Ridge Golf Club mowing grass. He enjoyed watching and playing golf. He was a member of the McKean Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Hirz, and his parents Leo (Joe) and Donna (Dushole) Hirz.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Debbie, two brothers Patrick (Sandy) Hirz of Tennessee and Kevin Hirz of McKean; his daughter Lori (Jason) Walter of Maryland, his son Geoff (Elizabeth) Hirz of Fairview, and his only grandchild Cora Hirz.
Friends may call at Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Friday, July 28th, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a funeral service being held on Saturday, July 29, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 128 Sunset Dr., Edinboro, at 10:00 am.
