Ronald Louis Hulsey, 67, of Chanute, Kansas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on November 13, 2025. Ron was born on December 26, 1957, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Bobby Jo Hulsey and Leota Maxine (Johnston) Hulsey.

After graduating from Miami High School in 1976, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he met and married Marcie Schmeltz. They were married for 42 years. They moved to Chanute, Kansas, in 1997, where they owned and operated the Daylight Donut shop for 15 years. Together, they shared adventures across the states on week-long motorcycle trips. Ron was an avid bowler, bowling a perfect 300 game in December of 2000. Ron was a member of the American Legion Riders and SAL Post 170.

As a family man, he took great pride in being a loving father to his daughter, Angela (Dreamer Namelo) Hulsey, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and sons, Shane (Katie) Hulsey of Derby, Kansas, and Nik (Morgan) Hulsey of Gardner, Kansas. He was also proud to be called “Papa” by his grandchildren: Tierra Hulsey, Elena Solis, Kayson Hulsey, Antwon Fine, Skye Hulsey, Sedona Hulsey, Kas Hulsey, Teegan Hulsey, Tenslee Hulsey, and 2 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Marcie; his daughter, Angela; his sons, Shane and Nik; his sister, Karen Smith of Moore, Oklahoma; and his beloved grandchildren.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister Kathy and brother Cliff. Ron will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered by his family and friends.
