Feuerborn Family Funeral Service - IolaRonald Eugene Johnson, age 83, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Diversicare Nursing Home of Chanute, Kansas.
He was born on April 19, 1942, in the Savonburg Area, the son of Harold and Doris (Nelson) Johnson. Ron graduated from Emporia Teacher's College in 1965, and spent 30 years as bookkeeper for a printing company in Kansas City, Kansas.
Ronald married Mary Lou Farnham in 1995 and she passed away of covid shortly after their 25th Wedding Anniversary.
Ron contracted polio at the age of 6 and was paralyzed from the waist down. His handicap never kept him from driving cars, trucks and tractors while living on the farm.
Ron and Mary Lou loved to travel and took many long trips throughout the United States.
He is survived by his cousins, Kay Elder of Humboldt; Larry Nelson of Kansas City; Rexine Spencer of Thayer; Trudy Bassett of Gisela, Arizona; and Tina Nelson of Gisela, Arizona; Earl Ludlum of Hillsboro, Missouri.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Friends Home Cemetery, also known as the Swedish Cemetery, in Savonburg, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends Home Lutheran Church and left in care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.feuerbornfuneral.com
