Ronald Johnston Obituary

Ronald C. Johnston, a Daytona Beach native, left his earthly home to join with his heavenly Father on November 19, 2025. However, before meeting his Lord and Savior, he had to spend some time reuniting with his four legged friends at the Rainbow Bridge. He was 71 years old, 5 days shy of his 72nd birthday. He is survived by his devoted wife, Becca Clayton Johnston, his son Ryan Johnston, his wife, Jandi, his two darling grandsons, Bryce and Caiden, Ron's loving brother, Steve Johnston and his sister in law Dianne, nephew Steven Rhett Johnston and his wife Andrea and their children Marshall & Delaney, nephew Craig Johnston and his wife Alexis and their children Gavin & Brennan. He is preceded by his father Clyde H. Johnston, his mother Marilyn H. Johnston, and his daughter Jenna Ann Johnston.
When meeting Ron for the first time it was always an experience. He was NEVER at a loss for words and never met a stranger. Always a playful rascal, he loved to crack a joke which brought smiles and laughter to those around him. Ron loved his two children and taught them many outdoor activities such as baseball, basketball, football, golfing, hunting, horseback riding and shrimping. Above all he was passionate for his beloved bloodhounds. Ron would bring a rescue bloodhound home, thinking that it was going to be HIS dog but it never quite worked out the way he planned. Every single bloodhound ended up 'Mommas"!
A cowboy at heart, showing a tough exterior, all that truly knew Ron saw his gentle, kind personality. He would smile as he went out of his way to help his fellow man. He loved teaching his kids to respect and enjoy the outdoors. Ryan played many years in Little League and Jenna loved horseback riding. He taught Ryan the workings and handling of heavy equipment which Ryan excels at to this day. The only outdoor activity that he merely tolerated was being coaxed to hike the many trails of the Great Smoky Mountains with his wife. He was devoted and a true protector of Becca.
Ron's family extends their deepest gratitude to all medical staff and to Vitas Hospice for their compassion, care, and love. Thank you to all those that visited and aided in his comfort during the progression of his illness.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 6th at 2pm at First Baptist Church South Daytona - 2197 Kenilworth Avenue, South Daytona, FL 32119.
A memorial service will follow at 3pm, then refreshments in the Fellowship Hall.
